Free Dental Day coming soon!

Three local dentists will offer their services free of charge  September 24th, 2011 in Grand Junction, Colorado for their second annual Free Dental Day in Grand Junction. The dental offices of Dr. Julie Gillis, Dr. Kenneth Perino, and Dr. Duane Weenig will offer basic dental treatment to persons who are unable to afford dental care.

Services will include oral cancer screenings, x-rays, cleanings, fillings and extractions. Potential patients will be screened Friday, September 23, 2011, at the offices of Dr. Gillis and Dr. Weenig. Treatment and additional screenings will be completed on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the offices of Dr. Gillis, Dr. Perino and Dr. Weenig.

Dr. Gillis thought of the idea for a Free Dental Day last year. “I wanted a way to give back to this community which has given me so much. To offer even more services to more people, I enlisted the help of Dr. Perino, an oral surgeon, and Dr. Weenig, a periodontist, for our first Free Dental Day held last September. The decision was unanimous that we should repeat this service.” Dr. Gillis said.

During last year’s Free Dental Day a total of 118 patients were treated for their dental concerns including 66 cancer screenings, 39 cleanings, 27 fillings, 122 extractions and 5 gum surgeries.

Patients should arrive at 8 a.m. to Dr Gillis’s office located at 1190 Bookcliff Ave. unit 201 or Dr. Weenig’s office located at 790 Wellington Ave. suite 205. This event is first come, first served. Each patient will be offered one to two procedures and will be given specific appointment times and locations for their treatment.
