It is important to Dr. Julie Gillis and her team to stay involved in the community that gives us so much. We love it here in Grand Junction, Colorado. We especially love to support things we are passionate about – like eliminating oral cancer or at the very least, catching oral cancer while the lesion is small and treatable. We also support many things our patients are passionate about! Recently the American Cancer Society had a Walk For Life fundraiser. We were there to join the fight against cancer. Oral cancer is rare but we screen each of our patients for this when they come in for an exam. A huge Thank You to all of the volunteers who helped our community raise over a quarter of a million dollars!
And this received from one of our wonderful patients:
I cannot fully express my gratitude and that of my team for the very generous donation you gave us for our fundraising efforts for the American Cancer Society.
We fundraised hard all year long and ended up among the top 10 teams. Personally, I was 13th out of 942 individuals. Not too shabby.
The entire community of Grand Junction raised over a quarter million dollars.
Attached are a couple of pictures of your track marker and your chief fundraiser, Gabriele. 🙂
Thank you so much for your generous gift!!
Gabriele and team
Oral cancer is rare but can be deadly. As part of your complete examination, and each time you come in for a cleaning and periodic exam, we will do a screening for oral cancer. Please let us know if you have any questions about oral cancer, or any sores in your mouth that do not heal within two week. Even if they do not cause you any discomfort!
