Do You Take My Dental Insurance?

Dental insurance pondering!

Dental insurance pondering!

As our office’s business assistant, and the person who usually answers the phone in our office, I get asked this question a lot.  Sometimes a couple times per day and it is a good question!

In most cases, the answer is, “Yes, absolutely!” The reality is that it depends on the type of plan you choose or your employer chooses. Some plans do restrict who you can visit for services. These plans include: Medicaid, DMO (Dental Maintenance Organizations), and “Discount plans”. We will do our best to determine your coverage so that we can provide you with an accurate estimate of the amount that is your responsibility, but this can change. Some plans do restrict who you can visit for services, though this may not be the best option for your dental health. Limiting your treatment to your insurance benefits can be dangerous to your health.

Many plans have no restrictions and allow you to see any dentist you choose. Most insurance companies will pay for basic services, for any dental office. Since we do not contract with any of the insurance companies, we have no control over what they pay or do not pay. We will submit your paperwork for you and are experienced in helping you maximize your benefits.

In our office, Dr. Gillis is very concerned with technical excellence, quality materials, and our patient’s comfort.  Many patients have found that the small difference in coverage between a preferred provider and an out of network provider does not make up for the relationships and trust they have built with the doctor and team.
