Use Your Dental Benefits or Lose Them!
Here is a sample of a letter our office shares with our patients who have dental insurance to help them with their benefits. Now is the time to do this as dental insurance benefits are usually on a calendar year! Thanks to my wonderful business assistant, Shelly, for sharing this information!

Dear Patient,
Many patients have asked us to notify them near the end of the year if they have insurance benefits remaining and they have uncompleted treatment. Although treatment should never be dictated by a dental insurance policy, our experience has shown that insurance benefits often can be maximized by careful planning.
Your dental insurance policy allows for a certain dollar amount of coverage each year. If you do not use your coverage during the year, you lose those benefits (unused coverage does not carry over to the next year). Our records indicate that you may have the following insurance benefits remaining for 2014 assuming you have not used dental insurance benefits with another provider of dental services:
CIGNA: $ 1233.00
If you would like to take advantage of the full insurance benefit of your policy, please call our office and schedule your treatment. Please do not wait until the last few weeks of the year to schedule an appointment when our busy schedule will make it difficult to find a convenient time for you. If necessary, we can phase your treatment in order to use the maximum allowed this year and then complete your treatment next year with next year’s dental insurance benefits.
