Using Gum Surgery or Gingival Plastic Surgery to Enhance a Smile
It may sound complicated, but gum surgery or gingival plastic surgery can be an easy and comfortable procedure! In our Grand Junction office we use either a diode laser or electro-surgery to carefully remove tissue to complete the gum surgery. This can be an easy addition to a treatment plan to achieve better aesthetics and a very important part of a smile makeover.Note the improvement in the length and shape of the teeth!

Patient wanted her teeth to appear fuller and more uniform while avoiding any preparation of the teeth if possible.

Following gum surgery you can notice the appearance of larger teeth and a more even gum line which leads to a more pleasing smile!
Gum surgeries, of course, are also used for many other useful procedures such as to access decay, access implants, or impacted teeth or to eliminate pocketing around teeth.
In the beautiful smile above, our patient was concerned that the display of teeth was uneven from one side to another and she wanted her teeth to look bigger without harming the teeth. She came to our office well informed about procedures available to complete her smile makeover and she was very pleased with the result. I think you will agree that the “after” image shows an even more beautiful smile and more than satisfied our patient’s aesthetic concerns!
Below is another very conservative gingival surgery or gingival plastic surgery used to make the teeth look more even. Our office completed minor orthodontic alignment of the teeth and you will notice some of the plastic tabs that were placed on the teeth to aid in their movement. (These are removed after treatment). Even a surgery as conservative at this helped the front teeth appear more even and improved the smile! And the result is permanent. Our office is dedicated to providing the highest level of dental care in a clean and caring environment.
