Our Office’s New Digital Xray Machine!

Introducing Our New Digital Panoramic 2D and 3D X-Ray Unit

Our new digital X-ray machine helps us reduce radiation to you, enables us to take x-rays more comfortably (even for patients with gagging problems or large tori!) , helps us diagnose better due to clearer images, and helps the environment by reducing the amount of chemicals we need to use.  And, we can now evaluate your mouth in three dimensions as well as two!

Over 10 years ago, we switched from film based x-rays to digital x-rays for the small bitewing and periapical x-rays you typically receive in our office.  This greatly reduced the amount of radiation you were exposed to for each x-ray, decreased the time required to see the x-ray, and improved our diagnostic capabilities.  Now we can offer these same advantages plus more when we take your large full mouth x-ray or panorex.

In addition to taking a digital 2D panorex, the new ProMax 3D unit we recently installed allows us to take extra-oral bitewings and periapical x-rays.  In other words we can take the x-rays without having to place a sensor in your mouth.   These are ideal for children, patients that have a strong gag reflex, or a patient in pain.

The ProMax 3D brings pre-surgical planning to a new level of precision, as the prospective site becomes visible in three dimensions. This technology makes it possible to locate and trace the mandibular nerve canal, the sinus cavities, and the jaw bone in 3 dimensions.  With these views, we can optimize implant placement to increase the probability of success, and we can thoroughly evaluate complex extractions before we begin the procedure.

Converting to the digital panorex will decrease patient radiation exposure up to 6o percent, improve our diagnostic information, and allow us to retire the film processing unit along with its smelly chemicals!

Our office hopes that this will make you feel more comfortable. Our office is located in Grand Junction, Colorado.  Please visit our web site at www.juliegillisdds.com for information about us!  We hope you will find us on Facebook and like us!  See Julie M Gillis DDS PC!  Our phone number is (970) 242-3635.
