Csilla is from Hungary and she found us on Google. She was getting married soon and she wanted all of her upper teeth to match. She is aware of areas of chipping and possible decay. Csilla also wants overall brighter, whiter teeth. She researched cosmetic dental treatment options and when she researched our office and talked to others who had treatment with Dr. Gillis, she knew she wanted to have a consult at our office.
We completed a thorough examination and reviewed all the options to achieve Csilla’s goals. Several appointments were pre scheduled to keep with Csilla’s timeline to complete before the wedding. Treatment began with custom tray bleaching which worked wonderfully. Dr. Gillis conservatively treated the upper teeth with a mixture of crowns and veneers depending on the health of the underlying teeth. Gingival plastic surgery was done to even the gum line of the front teeth.
Csilla appreciated that our office would be very conservative where possible. Even with her custom temporary restorations, Csilla noted that she had ‘taken lots of pictures and was more confident and smiling more’. When the completed restorations were tried in, Csilla had her fiancée with her to evaluate the new restorations. Both were very pleased and her gorgeous, confident smile was on full display for the many wedding photos that followed!
When we see things that are askew, there is often the uncontrollable urge to set it right … like a necktie that hangs to one side or a picture hanging crooked on the wall. This desire for straightening is even more prominent when it comes to our teeth. However, many forgo treatment to avoid the discomfort and hassle of traditional braces.
Adults account for nearly 25% of all orthodontic patients. The most common problems are crowded teeth, teeth spaced too far apart, protruding upper or lower teeth, and upper and lower front teeth that do not touch. Now there’s no reason to hide … since we offer ClearCorrect™ or Invisalign™ to correct the misalignment of front teeth.
Using a series of smooth, comfortable, and virtually invisible plastic aligners similar to a sports mouth guard or bleaching tray, we gradually and gently shift your teeth into the proper position. Every few weeks, you will receive a new aligner that continues the gradual process of realigning your teeth. These custom-made aligners are completely removable, so you can eat, drink, brush, and floss normally … then just pop the trays back into place for the rest of the day.
Chloe came in a few years ago unhappy with the appearance of her misaligned teeth. Clear aligners satisfied her treatment goals without the hassle of brackets and metal wires! Call today for a consultation to see if clear aligner treatment will work for you!
Dentures are removable, custom-fitted replacement teeth that are crafted from strong, durable materials like acrylic resin which can be reinforced with porcelain or metal. There are two main types of dentures: complete and partial. Kathy replaced her worn upper denture and restored her lower teeth to be healthy, strong, and beautiful!
These are a few of the common problems we see:
- Dentures should be comfortable. Although you may need time to adjust to a new denture, you should not accept continuous pain or discomfort.
- Dentures should not come loose unexpectedly.
- Denture teeth will wear with time which may result in an incorrect bite or a poor appearance.
- Changes in the denture fit and condition can lead to swollen gums and soreness along with eating and speaking problems.
Simply relining your existing denture may correct problems caused by changes to the soft and hard tissue in your mouth. In other cases, a complete new denture may be required.
Several appointments may be required to get the correct fit. Make sure you select a dentist who is willing to take the time necessary to make a denture that fits you correctly and looks natural.
Kathy came to see us last year with a worn denture and severely worn lower teeth. After a review of the options, she decided to replace her upper dentures and restore her lower teeth to be healthy, strong, and beautiful. Kathy loves her new smile!

Landon and Lindsey
When your mother is a dental hygienist, receiving all that general dentistry has to offer is a lifestyle! From the eruption of their first tooth and continuing into adulthood, Landon and Lindsey were informed about the importance of taking good care of their teeth. Their general dental care included receiving regular cleanings at least twice a year, very thorough and regular dental exams, and fluoride treatments as kids. They routinely brush, floss, and maintain a healthy diet. Their back teeth received protective dental sealants whenever there was a pronounced groove to limit the opportunity for tooth decay to form. If any area of decay was noted, it was treated quickly and conservatively with bonded tooth-colored restorations.
Even though Landon and Lindsey’s teeth were healthy and their general dental care was optimum, they knew that even well cared for, healthy teeth can use some enhancing at times. The size, shape, and color of their teeth did not fit their expectations for their smiles.
Landon’s teeth were just too small for his smile and excessive fluoride ingested as the teeth were forming caused a condition known as enamel fluorosis. The teeth were mottled or blotchy in color with patches of white. Landon wanted better alignment of the teeth with the size of the teeth slightly larger to eliminate the existing gaps between the teeth and to create a more ideal, fuller smile.
Lindsey was unhappy with the color and shape of several of her front teeth. Her goals were for a brighter smile with more uniformly shaped teeth. Both Landon and Lindsey and their parents were thrilled with the final result which included tooth bleaching and conservative porcelain veneers.
Like a lot of people, Regina wanted a whiter, brighter smile. Regina has been a treatment assistant in the office of Dr. Julie Gillis for over 11 years. She knows about the excellent products our office uses for tooth bleaching and she wanted to have a whiter smile. Regina’s teeth and gums are healthy. She is totally fine with the minor misalignment present. Take home custom tray bleaching with Nite White was used to create this sparkling smile. You can see the comfortable custom trays used for this transformation.
Why is it that these days you can’t tell whether someone’s terrific smile is a gift of nature or has been revitalized by dentistry?
It’s because fabulous restorative materials like porcelains and ceramics are used to create veneers, crowns, and bridges that are so beautiful and translucent that they look just like natural enamel. A talented ceramist can recreate color variations in the restoration to match the surrounding natural teeth while at the same time altering the shape of the tooth. These restorations are strong enough to withstand natural biting pressure and with proper care will resist chipping and staining.
Jazmyn recently came to our office to permanently replace a missing tooth and to reshape her front six teeth with a more pleasing and uniform appearance. Utilizing a porcelain bridge and conservative porcelain veneers, we were able to provide the naturally beautiful smile Jazmyn desired!
You may have heard about some of the many recent advances in cosmetic dentistry and how new smiles can literally be created. What you might not be aware of is how simply and effectively some problems can be corrected. Front teeth that are discolored, chipped or have gaps between them can look as good or better than new, using porcelain veneers.
These ultra-thin shells of ceramic material are bonded firmly to the front of your teeth and can be used to improve the color, shape, and alignment. They are natural looking and are highly resistant to permanent discoloration from drinking coffee or tea, red wine or from tobacco smoking.
Several years ago, Nattiel told us she was unhappy with the gaps between her front teeth along with the shape. She was interested in a conservative, long lasting way to improve her smile. As you can see, placing veneers on the front four teeth easily turned a beautiful smile into a gorgeous smile and this after photo was taken six years after the veneers were placed! Veneers can simply and effectively restore the health and beauty of your teeth and give you the self-confident smile you’ve always wanted.
When Randy first visited our office he explained that he was ready to fix up his smile after having periodontal disease for many years along with clenching and grinding habits that had worn his teeth down unevenly. He had missing teeth and misaligned teeth and wanted these things corrected.
After treatment for his periodontal disease and surgery to place several implants, Randy wore temporary crowns for a period of time to adjust to the new alignment of his teeth and allow his bone to attach to the implants. When his final restorations were placed, Randy was overjoyed to have his smile back along with his oral health!
